#12 Texas Tech Red Raiders vs Dallas Baptist Patriots

Game times

May 8 (Tue): 6:30 PM

Probable Starters

RHP Ryan Sublette (0-2, 8.72 ERA) vs RHP Jarod Bayless (2-3, 2.84 ERA)

The matchup

The Red Raiders close out their home schedule with a midweek matchup against the Dallas Baptist Patriots. This will be the second meeting between the two ball clubs. Last time, the Patriots edged out the Red Raiders 6-5 after an eighth inning comeback.

Texas Tech comes into the matchup 35-14 (12-9) after dropping a series 1-3 to Texas at home. Dallas Baptist comes to Lubbock 31-15 (12-3) after sweeping Evansville 3-0.

Players to watch

Senior INF Devlin Granberg leads the Patriots with a .425 batting average. In 179 at-bats he’s put up 46 runs on 76 hits with 54 RBIs and eight home runs

Sophomore OF Jameson Hannah recorded three RBIs last time against Tech which propelled the Patriots to a 6-5 win last time. In 181 at-bats he’s recorded 47 runs on 65 hits with 31 RBIs and three home runs.

Prediction

Inconsistency has been the story of the season for the Red Raiders, specifically on offense. The Red Raider bats never have trouble getting on base, but some games they just can’t seem to find a way to get anyone home. Dallas Baptist is no pushover either and will be coming with plenty of momentum after a weekend sweep of Evansville. That being said, the Red Raiders are still a top 15 team and it is senior night. If there was a time for the bats to turn on, it’s tonight and the Red Raiders need this win to take some momentum into the finals break. I think they’ll get it and break out of this late season slump.
