It seems like every year we hear about a virtually unknown player suddenly picking up a flurry of scholarship offers from Power-5 programs.
This year, that player might be 6’7 shooting guard from Flower Mound and Basketball Means More, Caleb Lohner. After earning two scholarship offers in all of 2017, the sophomore has received four more in the last two months alone from the following schools: TCU, Kansas State, Texas A&M and Texas Tech, in that order. He also has offers from Baylor and BYU.
Long, lanky and athletic, Lohner is known for his sharpshooting ability and his knack for getting to the basket. He’s the type of player that can put up points in bunches and he plays above average defense on the other end, too. His height gives him a distinct rebounding advantage over other guards, and he’s known to have a ridiculously high work ethic.
Tech coach Chris Beard loves his oversized guards and Lohner would fit right into the mold, while also providing elite scoring potential. Keep an eye out on Lohner and his recruitment over the summer—it will certainly be an interesting race.
