The matchup
The Red Raiders wrap up the regular season with a trip to Stillwater to take on the Oklahoma State Cowboys for a three game set. Texas Tech comes in 35-15 (12-9) after losing seven of their last ten. Oklahoma State comes in 29-19-1 (16-5) but are also struggling having lost four of their last eight games. Despite the late season slump, a series win for the Pokes would cement them as the sole Big 12 champions.
Players to watch
Sophomore 1B Michael Neustifter leads the Cowboys with a .323 batting average. In 161 at-bats Neustifter has put up 24 runs on 52 hits with 31 RBIs and four home runs
Senior LHP Dylan Dusek will get the start for the Red Raiders for the first time this season since starting against South Alabama where he recorded seven strikeouts in four innings. The lineup change comes after a late season slump from Michael Davis. It will be interesting to see how the left hander handles the starting role against a great Oklahoma State line-up.
Prediction
The Red Raiders have struggled as of late and lost out on the Big 12 title when they lost the series against Texas. Oklahoma State has also struggled in recent weeks as well, losing back to back series against Baylor and Iowa. The Red Raiders are fresh from a nine day break and I think I like this pitching rotation better than any combination we’ve seen this year. Texas Tech wins this series 2-1 and heads into the postseason with some much needed momentum.
