The Texas Tech coaching staff didn’t spend much time celebrating the greatest season in Texas Tech basketball history. Since losing to Villanova, coach Chris Beard and company have hit the recruiting trail hard and Monday morning, some of that hard work paid off.
St. John's grad transfer Tariq Owens has committed to Texas Tech, source told ESPN.

Should be a nice addition for the Red Raiders, will bring shot-blocking and frontcourt help.
Tariq Owens is a 6’11” 205 pound big man with interior defense and the offensive ability to stretch the floor. Owens will virtually become a Zach Smith replacement and should fit right in without missing a beat.
Owems will be reunited with assistant coach Al Pinkins who was on staff at Tennessee when Owens was playing there. Owens chose Tech over Maryland and returning to St. Johns.
