It’s tough for starting pitcher to have more strikeouts in a game than innings pitched—particular in a conference with as good of hitters as the Big 12—but sophomore right-handed pitcher Caleb Killian did just that on Saturday against the Kansas Jayhawks.
In five full innings (it’s already a feat to go that deep into a game under Tim Tadlock), Killian racked up a career-high eight strikeouts while allowing just two hits and one walk.
The Flower Mound native is now 4-1 on the season and 2-0 in Big 12 starts. Texas Tech ended up winning the game 10-0 while also taking the series, 2-1.
