Pitcher of the week: Ty Harpenau

Harpenau leads the bullpen charge over West Virginia

Nikopoia

Texas Tech earned their first Big 12 series win in Lubbock this past weekend over West Virginia. The Red Raiders took two out of three from the Mountaineers, and the pitching staff certainly performed well enough to have earned a sweep. Tech held their opponents to just two runs over the series’ first 22 innings. In fact, the most impressive pitching performance came on Thursday night, in Tech’s only loss of the weekend. Davis Martin and Ty Harpenau combined to allow only one run on three hits, while striking out 11 over nine innings. Not to be outdone, Caleb Kilian and Ryan Shetter then combined for another one-run, three-hit gem the following night. So, long story short, there is a plethora of performers to choose Pitcher of the Week from.

Our Texas Tech pitcher of the week is Ty Harpenau. How does no hits allowed, two strikeouts, and one save over 3.2 innings make you feel? It should make you feel glad this guy is throwing for our team. Harpenau has been more than a solid bullpen piece for the Red Raiders this season, and last week he was efficient in his work of the Mountaineers.
