#6 Texas Tech Red Raiders at Dallas Baptist University Patriots
Game time
April 10 (Tue): 6:30 PM
Probable starters
Ryan Sublette (0-1, 7.71 ERA) vs Luke Eldred (3-1, 2.38 ERA)
The matchup
The Red Raiders travel to the Metroplex to take on the Dallas Baptist Patriots. Texas Tech comes into the matchup ranked No. 6 in the nation after defeating Kansas two games to one. Dallas Baptist comes in 19-10 after defeating Illinois State two games to one on the road.
The Patriots are unranked but have a 3-2 record over Big 12 opponents this year, including a 3-2 victory over the TCU Horned Frogs. Dallas Baptist has also notched impressive victories over the No. 22 ranked Sam Houston State Bearcats and No. 24 Oklahoma.
The Red Raiders come off a two-to-one series win over the Kansas Jayhawks. Tech outscored Kansas 25-6 in the first two matchups but then got run-ruled 17-3 in the third matchup.
Players to watch
Sophomore OF Jameson Hannah leads the Patriots with a .392 batting average. In 29 starts, he has 49 hits in 125 at-bats. He also had 22 RBIs and three home runs.
Junior INF Devlin Granberg has a .411 batting average in 29 games. He has 28 runs on 46 hits as well as 28 runs with seven homers.
Prediction
The Red Raiders have become a rollercoaster of inconsistency, specifically on offense. They haven’t had trouble getting on base, but some days they just can’t seem to bring anyone home. Despite giving up 17 runs to the Jayhawks last Sunday, Tadlock seems to have figured out his pitching staff after the losses of Steven Gingery and Erikson Lanning. Dallas Baptist is no pushover and will have the home field advantage. Even still, as long as the Red Raiders can be more consistent on offense there’s no reason Tech shouldn’t come out on top.
Tech wins this one, 5-2.
