Texas Tech evens the series with West Virginia

They defeated the Mountaineers 4-1 on Friday night

The Texas Tech Red Raiders evened the series with the West Virginia Mountaineers in Game 2 of the series.

Caleb Killian was the starting pitcher for the Red Raiders on Friday night. He started the ball game on a strikeout. Overall, he pitched for six innings. In 84 pitches, he allowed two hits and one run and he struck out four. Ryan Shetter took over for Killian in the seventh inning. In his first inning pitched, he has a 1-2-3 inning with two strikeouts and a flyout. He ended the night with only a single hit allowed, no runs, and four strikeouts.

Freshman Braxton Fulford obtained his first collegiate home run with a solo shot into the visitor bullpen. The second home run of the night came from Michael Davis. This is his sixth home run of the season. Davis also has a slugging percentage of .548. Grant Little also scored during Davis’ home run. Later in the game a sacrifice fly to center field from Little allowed Gabe Holt to score.

Overall, Friday’s game was an impressive improvement from Thursday night’s game both offensively and defensively. Game three of the series starts at 2 pm on Saturday in Rip Griffin Park.
