Another victory for Red Raider baseball in the matchup against South Alabama

Texas Tech now 10-0 after the first game in the series with the South Alabama Jaguars

The No. 3 Texas Tech Red Raiders faced the No. 11 South Alabama Jaguars in game 1 of the weekend series Friday night in Lubbock. This is the first ranked team on the Red Raiders schedule this season. Approximately 4,432 fans were in attendance to witness the Red Raiders 8-1 victory over the Jaguars.

Gabe Holt put the Red Raiders on the board first with an infield single allowing Cameron Warren to score in the third. Warren earned a total of two runs tonight.

Kurt Wilson continues to impress at bat. He allowed for two runs by Gabe Holt and Clay Koelzer, respectively, on a triple to right field earning an RBI. Clay Koelzer earned his third RBI of the season and put two runs on the board for Tech. Gabe Holt and Kurt Wilson both also earned runs tonight. Jung lead an RBI triple to the left-center field wall allowing Wilson to add to the score. The final 8-1 score came after a passed ball.

Jags only score came on a passed ball in the 5th inning.

The pitchers for tonights game were Davis Martin, Dane Haveman, and Connor Queen. Martin’s final line included 5 innings pitched, 2 hits, 1 run, and 0 errors. Dane Haveman took over for Davis Martin in the 6th inning. In the two innings he pitched, he allowed no runs, not hits, and no errors. Connor Queen followed Haveman also with no runs, hits or errors in two innings.

The Red Raiders take on the Jaguars in game two of the series Saturday at noon.
