Texas Tech opens the weekend series with a victory

The Red Raiders beat the Huskies 22-3 on Friday night

The No. 8 Texas Tech Red Raiders had an impressive start to the series versus Northeastern Huskies. The Red Raiders beat the Huskies 22-3.

The starting pitcher for the Red Raiders was Davis Martin. He allowed six hits and three runs in 98 pitches. He also had seven total strikeouts in five innings. John Henry Gonzalez took over for Martin and allowed two hits and one walk in two innings with four strikeouts in 38 pitches. Andrew Davis was the final pitcher of the night. In two innings, Davis did not allow a hit, run, or error. He had two strikeouts in 36 pitches.

Davis hit a sacrifice fly to center field, scoring Farhat to put Tech on the board. The second inning got the game rolling for the Red Raiders starting with a double down the LF line by Masters allowing Warren to score. Josh Jung doubled to right center on an RBI scoring Cody Farhat. A home run from Grant Little also score Josh Jung. This is Little’s fourth homerun of the season. A three-run double from Cameron Warren scored Grant Little, Josh Jung, and Cody Farhat. The hit earned Warren three RBI this game. Zach Rheams hit the first grand slam of the year. The homer earned Rheams 4 RBIs for the night.

The series continues with a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at noon at Rip Griffin Park.
