No. 6 Texas Tech got a win today against No. 12 Louisville by a score of 8-4. This is the 16th win of the season for a team that will begin Big 12 play this weekend. Six pitchers went on the mound for the Red Raiders today as it was a battle from the beginning.

Ryan Shetter got his fourth start today and pitched well again. He went four innings and only surrendered one hit on 63 pitches. Shetter also walked 5 batters and struck out 2. Jose Quezada came in next and got the win. Quezada pitched 3 innings and allowed one run on two hits. This is Quezada’s third win of the season. He has quickly become the go-to guy out of the bullpen in the middle innings of the day.

The 8th innings was the most hectic for the Red Raiders pitching staff. Three pitchers pitched in the 8th innings and each got one out each. Dane Haveman started the inning and allowed two hits and two runs on 17 pitches before Kurt Wilson was pulled out of right field and struck one batter out before walking a runner to load the bases. Ty Harpenau then came in and got a fly ball to end the inning. Caleb Freeman came in the 9th inning and shut down all three Cardinal batters he faced.

Offensively, 8 runs total is great for a road game against a top-15 team. Grant Little was the highlight as he had 5 hits and 4 RBI including 2 doubles and a triple. Cameron Warren also had a good day with 2 hits and 2 RBI.

This is a great win for a team that has lost 2 of the last 3. The Red Raiders will once again face the Louisville Cardinals tomorrow at 11 am. After that, the Red Raiders will travel to Waco to take on the Baylor Bears for the first Big 12 series of the season. What do you think about today’s game against the Cardinals?
