Game 2: TBA vs TBA
The matchup
The Red Raiders travel to Louisville Kentucky for a two game series with the Louisville Cardinals. The series comes in the middle of a nine game road trip for the Red Raiders, who come to Louisville looking to bounce back after a 1-2 series loss to the Kentucky Wildcats. The Cardinals look to bounce back after a 3-10 loss against the #13 North Carolina Tar Heels.
This is the 12th season for Louisville head coach Dan McDonnell. In his first 11 seasons, McDonnell recorded an overall record of 509-203 and made the College World Series four times out of 10 postseason appearances.
Players to watch
Junior Infielder Devin Mann has started every game this season amd leads the Cardinals in hitting with 17 hits, 20 RBIs and 2 HRs. His best performance came against Richmond where he batted .750 on 3 hits in 4 at-bats.
Sophomore infielder Jake Snider has also started each game and has a .314 batting average on the season. In 51 at-bats, Snider has 13 runs on 16 hits with 3 RBIs.
Prediction
Both teams come into the series following a dissapointing loss and it’s not clear how well each team will be able to overcome the adversity. From a numbers standpoint, the Red Raiders matchup very well with the Cardinals. The Red Raiders have a little bit more depth at pitching and are better offensively than the Cardinals. As long as Tech can play their game, I fully expect the Red Raiders to bounce back with a sweep before heading to Waco.
Tech wins 12-7, 8-4.
