Four weeks and four different players take the prestigious award of Hitter of the Week. Freshman table setter Gabe Holt takes the honor for the first time as a Red Raider.
Holt’s ability to produce RBIs and to get on base makes him a headache for any opposing pitcher. This week he batted .308 over four games with an incredible seven walks added in. Every hit this week came off the sixth ranked Kentucky Wildcats. Holt also found his way on base at least twice in every game. Getting on base is the first priority for any leadoff hitter.
Not only did he get on base but he also scored four runs and produced 3 RBIs. Two of the RBIs came on a two run home run on the final day of the Kentucky series which propelled his team to a win.
With the offensive tools and plate discipline that Holt has displayed, he will likely be a weekly contender for Hitter of the Week.
