Player of the week: Keenan Evans

Weeks fly, but No. 12 is always at the top

NCAA Basketball: Texas Tech at Texas Christian Jim Cowsert-USA TODAY Sports

If even the Big 12 named for the second time in a row Keenan Evans its “Player of the Week”, who are we not to tag along with it and celebrate another superb week for our no. 12? He was also named among the finalists for the Bob Cousy Award (best PG in the country), so no doubt about our pick.

Keenan scored 57 points last week and almost replicated his performance this week, as he scored 38 points against Texas, and added 17 against TCU in two games that were absolutely different.

The Longhorns game was a tight one, in which other Red Raiders had many problems to find a way to score, so Keenan literally took the team on his back, scoring important points and, particularly, scoring the buzzer-beater that gave the Red Raiders the victory. There isn’t a valid reason not to watch it again:

He didn’t post the same numbers against TCU but, if possible, his buckets were even more important. Keenan almost didn’t score in the first half (first bucket at 15:20), as his teammates were having good percentages and the score was already good but had important buckets while the Horned Frogs were trying to close the gap. In this way, he helped the team to have its fourth consecutive win.

As the conference schedule never stops, other two fights wait for the Red Raiders: on Wednesday they’ll face Iowa State at home, trying to avenge the 18-point loss suffered in Ames, while on Saturday the team will travel to Manhattan to face the Wildcats, that dropped their last two games. Expect to see a lot of Keenan!
