VIDEO: post West Virginia press conference

“We have to play better” was Coach Beard’s perfect synthesis

NCAA Basketball: Texas Tech at West Virginia Ben Queen-USA TODAY Sports

The game Texas Tech played in Morgantown on Monday wasn’t the best one of the season for the Red Raiders, and coach Chris Beard was totally aware of this in his press conference after the game.

He wasn’t happy with the 16-0 run that allowed West Virginia to gain an early lead, and he didn’t want to use the absence of many important players (Keenan Evans, Zach Smith, and Justin Gray) as an excuse for his team’s bad performance.

Coach Beard emphasized multiple times the poor work on the defensive side of the court, while he praised Niem Stevenson’s offensive numbers, as he scored 24 points in 24 minutes. According to the coach, Niem could have scored even more, but we went in trouble with fouls.
