Without seniors Keenan Evans, Zach Smith, and Justin Gray, a difficult game was expected for the Red Raiders in Morgantown, and suppositions came true on Monday night, as the Mountaineers started the game with a 16-0 run and won without too many problems.
This is the fourth loss in a row for Texas Tech, that slipped in the third position in the Big 12, one game behind West Virginia and 1⁄2 game in front of Kansas State. A victory over TCU in the last game of the regular season would guarantee the Red Raiders the No. 3 seed in the conference tournament that begins on March, 7th.
With so many players unable to play (and maybe it’s correct allowing them to rest and recover, as the Big 12 title isn’t achievable anymore), freshman Jarrett Culver stole the spotlight, conquering the first double-double of the season for the Red Raiders with 26 points and 12 rebounds, both season records for him.
