After some months of silence and rest, Dan Law Field saw the first action of the year on Friday afternoon, as the Red Raiders defeated Maine in the season opener, 4-2. It was the first of four meetings between the two teams, with two games scheduled for Saturday (noon and 4.pm.) and one for Sunday (1 p.m.).
Starting pitcher Davis Martin had a solid start, allowing one run in five innings, and he was relieved with efficiency by Caleb Kilian and Dave Haneman, while Ryan Shetter had some problems, allowing the second point of the game to the Bears. At the plate, center fielder Cody Farhat had two RBIs, and third baseman Josh Jung hit a solo home run in the fifth inning.
