Jett Duffey will start against the Longhorns

The redshirt sophomore will get his second career start

NCAA Football: Texas Tech at Texas Christian Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

With several injuries to Texas Tech quarterbacks this year, Kliff Kingsbury has announced that Jett Duffey will start this Saturday when the Texas Tech Red Raiders face off against the Texas Longhorns. Duffey came into the season as the 3rd string quarterback, but after injuries to McLane Carter and Alan Bowman, Duffey will get his second start of the season.

Duffey has seen plenty of action this season with appearances in 5 games and a winning start at TCU. He is 48/80 for 627 yards 4 TDs and 4 INTs. In addition to his passing stats he has 52 rushing attempts for 297 yards and 4TDs.

The offense looks very different with Duffey as opposed to Bowman, but Kliff has prepared all week to have Duffey as the starter. The offensive line will need to play well to give Duffey time to throw and Kliff will need to get Duffey in a groove early. If the Tech offense starts slow, it’s going to be a long night for this Red Raider offense with Duffey taking snaps.
