Coach Beard brings the former four star guard back to Texas.

Texas Tech’s victory over Kansas isn’t the only thing that has Coach Chris Beard smiling this morning. C.J. Roberts, originally from North Richland Hills, TX, announced his commitment to the Red Raiders on twitter Wednesday morning.

Roberts was ranked as the 108th best player in the 2017 class by Rivals and was lauded for his speed and ability to attack the basket. Roberts had originally listed Tech in his final six schools back in 2016 before signing with Kim Anderson and Missouri. However when Anderson was fired, Roberts was stuck between a rock and a hard place and struggled to find a spot in the rotation with the new regime.

Roberts will still need to sit out a year per NCAA rules, however as long as he enrolls in the Spring, he will be eligible to play next January right when conference play starts up.

Roberts joins Deshawn Corprew and Kyler Edwards as commitments to Chris Beard’s incoming group, which looks to add on to the success that Beard has already begun to have.
