Unquestionable the strength of your football team can be seen in the unit we will feature today, the linebackers. The two best players on your team Dakota Allen and Jordyn Brooks have these starting positions on lockdown. Allen led the team with 102 tackles and earned all Big 12 second team honors. Brooks was third on the team in tackles with 89 in his sophomore season. There is no mystery here Allen and Brooks are your unquestioned returning starters at the two linebacker positions.

Behind them is Riko Jeffers who looked like a future impact player in his Freshman year and who saw time as the third linebacker when you used that defensive set. Then Brayden Stringer and Christian Taylor provide excellent depth to round out the position group. The majority of this unit has multiple years of eligibility and will only improve with more coaching and time to develop.

Currently, there is only one linebacker target that has committed to the Red Raiders, Xavier Benson. He is a 6-3 200 pound 3-star linebacker out of Texarkana. Last week several of the coaches stopped by to pay him a visit. I would expect that he would redshirt next year since there is such quality depth at this position

The Red Raiders did offer 6-1 225 pound 3-star linebacker Jacoby Simpson recently. His other offers include Kansas State and TCU. Also, local prospect Jake Kirkpatrick recieved an offer this week. Kirkpatrick is a DB prospect out of Lubbock Cooper High School.

The linebackers are the best unit on your team not only because of the quality of the starters but also because the incredible players that are in line behind them. Next week we will take a look at the only unit that could make an argument as being as good or better than the linebackers.
