There was obviously a lot of excitation in the Red Raiders dress room after the thrilling victory over No. 2 West Virginia, and coach Beard brought some also in the press conference he had after the game.
He began his talk thanking once again the crowd, as he defined it “one of the best crowds in Texas Tech basketball history”, in particular in a period the students aren’t in Lubbock yet. In fact, the game was sold out and people were involved and rowdy.
In addition, he admitted his team didn’t shoot very well and had problems to break the press in the first half, but he was happy his team reacted in the second part of the game. He also explained his choice to let Zhaire Smith guard West Virginia’s top player, Jevon Carter.
The heroes of the night, Brandone Francis, and Keenan Evans, also joined the press conference. The first appreciated his teammates’ work that allowed him to have this night, while the latter pointed out once again the team’s good performance from the free-throw line (24/28).
