Athletic Director Kirby Hocutt announced that Women’s Basketball Head Coach Candi Whitaker had been relieved of duties. This comes after a 6-7 start that included the last two games ending in blowouts. Below is the opening statement from Kirby Hocutt’s press conference today.

Whitaker played 2 years at Texas Tech and had a Big 12 record of 13-61 and a total record of 54-81 at Texas Tech through 5 years. The Lady Raiders haven’t had much success under Whitaker as they haven’t had a winning season in all the time that she has been there.
"Candi is a Lady Raider, and will always be a Lady Raider. She will always be welcome around this program," Kirby Hocutt. #KCBDSports @KCBD11 @pchristy11

Assistant Coach Shimmy Gray-Miller will take over on an interim basis for the rest of the season. Gray-Miller was hired last April and she has a ton of experience reaching back 17 years. The last two years she has been an assistant coach at Florida where she was also the recruiting coordinator. We all wish Coach Whitaker the best and hope she has a successful future.
Welcome to the Lady Raider family, Shimmy Gray-Miller! #WreckEm
