AP top 25: The remaining undefeated teams go down

Texas Tech continues their ascent to the top.

NCAA Basketball: Villanova at Butler Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

It has been 42 years since there has been a team to go through an entire season without a loss. Coach Bobby Knight’s Indiana Hoosiers went 32-0 in 1976 and has celebrated being the last undefeated team ever since. Over the weekend, I’m sure there was some champagne popped in Bloomington as all the remaining undefeated teams went down.

Villanova, Arizona State and TCU came into Saturday undefeated and each of them suffered their first loss of the season. They were not the only ones to be upset over the weekend as Texas A&M, Tennessee, and Baylor also suffered defeats causing them to drop in the rankings. With conference season finally here, there will continually be movement in these rankings as ranked teams play each other and other tough competition. The contenders will truly begin to separate themselves from the pretenders.

Texas Tech continues their climb in the rankings after their home defeat of Baylor. Tech is once again proving that this team is not a fluke. Their swarming defense and deep bench is making things difficult on all of their opponents. If they can keep this level of play up, then the sky’s the limit for this team.
