Good question, Zach! It is pretty sad to see that our last men’s basketball player was drafted in ‘04 to the Seattle SuperSonics. And the Texas Tech women’s basketball draft resume stops in ‘06 with Erin Grant. Zach Smith entered the NBA draft to get some experience in the process and get his name out there, and although he is returning to school, he made an impression on the scouts. Several mock drafts have him going in the second round next year, so that’s probably your best bet. Hopefully Chris Beard will bring in some more NBA talent in the coming years, but it’s a process.

Kliff is still trying to fill the gaping hole DeAndre Washington left behind. Nevertheless, Da’Leon Ward definitely has the potential to rise to the challenge after last year’s performance. Hopefully, he will come back stronger after nursing his left leg injury from the spring. I am not as confident with Demarcus Felton or Justin Stockton. One thing is for sure, they better figure it out to help Nic Shimonek manage games more balanced instead of just depending on gunslingers.

Over. The spring game raised the hopes of some fans concerning that side of the ball, but the reality is, until Tech’s defense actually proves in real games it can stop another team from scoring, we can’t bet on anything less than 35 points per game.
