Every AD definitely keeps a short list handy, especially in case anything hits the fan unexpectedly. The short list would be Major Applewhite if we could steal him from Houston, Sterlin Gilbert, Sonny Cumbie, Art Briles and of course Ruffin McNeil because he is the bees knees and a damn good coach. Even though you didn’t ask for my choice, I am going to give it to you anyway - Sonny Cumbie. Hopefully, the two words Lane Kiffin never enter the conversation.
The dynamics I think will still be pretty similar, however, Lincoln Riley will be a personal touch for Tech. Riley has been a dedicated Mike Leach follower. It will be interesting to see Kliff vs. Lincoln, especially during game management decisions.
I don’t know about you, Bradley, but I welcome challenges and Tech needs to deal with it. I would much rather have Kansas State and Baylor in between OU and TCU. Remember when Baylor use to not be problem? Tech needs to grow some hair on their chest and be consistent with the schedule given to them. Not to mention, the non conference schedule could absolutely be improved. Nonetheless, I think Eastern Washington is definitely not a sleeper.
Art, I have to stick up for Kliff on this one. I am almost 100 percent positive Kliff doesn’t care about looking good on the field more than keeping his job and bringing success to the program. That was a big PR push from the administration/communications department. Any publicity for Tech is good publicity right? How many times have you seen Tech make the highlight reel for something other than total on field domination? Kliff had to play a role. His looks has made the university money. But after a while, ESPN and FOX stop paying attention.
Good lord I hope so.
With the huge recruiting class & returning talent, just how good will hoops be this year?

I am expecting solid results from Chris Beard heading into his second season with Tech and a strong recruiting class on board. I believe an NCAA Tournament appearance should be on the table.
