Lakeview Centennial (TX) wing Zhaire Smith committed to play basketball at Texas Tech on Thursday afternoon. The 6’5” high-flyer chose the Red Raiders over the Longhorns and has signed his national letter of intent.

Smith’s recruiting stock has risen lately and the Red Raiders benefited from being one of the first teams to show real interest. After the release of former South Plains College commit Jordan Brangers last week, the Tech coaching staff seized the opportunity to fill the vacancy on the wing, albeit with a much different player.

Smith is a tremendous athlete and has the size to guard multiple positions. He will be a threat on the fastbreak from day one and has the foundation to develop into a dangerous shooter and lockdown defender.
