The Red Raiders returned home today against the highly touted Kansas Jayhawks. I wasn't ready to declare this game a must win, but after this loss we certainly have to win Monday night against Baylor or I am predicting an invitation to the NIT. Tech played tough today and managed to keep Kansas from ever delivering a knock blow.
Keenan Evans was a big part of the reason Tech was able to keep Kansas from running away with the game. He had 25 points and so many clutch shots when Tech needed one. Tech actually took the lead around the 9 minute mark, 61-59, thanks to free throws from Zach Smith. The game was a compete dog fight the rest of the way.
In the final seconds Keenan Evans took the ball and heaved a half court shot for the win, but it was off the mark.
I hate that this one got away and I hope it didn't seal our post season fate.
Game Notes:
- Niem Stvenson had a career day with 22 points.
- Zach Smith had 21 points and 10 boards. He was absolutely lethal with his mid range jumper today.
Next up the Red Raiders take on the #6 Baylor Bears Monday night at 6:00.
