Penn State, Ohio State, you’re out! With their respective losses against Iowa and Michigan State, former #7 and #6 probably lost their possibilities to appear in the playoff. In addition, they lost in two games where they were heavily favored, making the fall even noisier.
The Committee decided not to shake up the top of the list, as Georgia, Alabama, Notre Dame, Clemson, and Oklahoma had their victories. Both the Tigers and the Sooners had solid wins against ranked opponents, but this didn’t allow them to overcome the Fighting Irish.
Big 12 continues its strong performance, despite Iowa State’s loss to West Virginia, as even the Cyclones didn’t lose their spot in the top-25. TCU took advantage of Northern friends’ losses and climbed to #6.
