After the 75-50 victory over South Alabama that gave the Red Raiders their 18th consecutive victory in openers, coach Beard spoke with the media expressing his satisfaction for many things.
He discussed, among other, about the good attendance, as 8,875 showed, according to ESPN, performances of rookies Zhaire Smith, who was the top scorer of the night, and Davide Moretti, and appreciated how the team forced 24 turnovers.
Also senior forward Tommy Hamilton IV, freshman guard Zhaire Smith shared their thoughts, confirming their happiness for the opener, focusing on their performances, but being conscious that there is still a lot of work to do.
