On Tuesday, the college football playoff committee released its first ranking of the season and released also a bunch of unexpected positions. Alabama always had the first position in the AP poll, but now there’s Georgia leading the group.
There’s something interesting in this, as the Bulldogs beat two teams at the moment in the ranking, while Alabama has never defeated a quality opponent. Florida State was ranked #3 in Week 1, but, later on, fell to a 2-5 record.
The Crimson Tide landed in position #2, while the other two playoff positions are for Notre Dame and Clemson. The Fighting Irish won against three ranked opponents, while the Tigers only fell to Syracuse but are highly considered by the committee.
Big 12 is represented by four teams, as Oklahoma (#5), TCU (#8), Oklahoma State (#11), and Iowa State (#15) made the list.
