After having the player of the week on offense for the first three games of the season, we’ve decided it’s time to give our new juggernaut defense some shine and split up the coveted Viva POTW award. Apologies to Tony Jones, Jordyn Brooks, and Dakota Allen who deserved this award in previous weeks, but this week it goes to an unsung hero that helped Tech get on the board early.
Damarcus Fields not only kept Mason Rudolph from getting on the board once again early but also ran it to the house for the first defensive touchdown of the year. The redshirt Freshman didn’t stop there as he also had a pass deflection and five solo tackles. With this incredible game, Fields received the Big 12 newcomer of the week as well as this week’s VTM defensive player of the week.
