As much as this loss to the Cyclones hurt, the defensive side of the ball had a few bright spots, but none brighter than walk-on sophomore Justus Parker. Parker wins DPOTW for the second time this season as he got the defense off to a fast start with his early interception. Parker’s pick led to the Red Raider’s first touchdown of the game and gave the team early momentum.

Parker went on to continue the day by tieing his career high in tackles with six and deflecting two passes. Parker’s is becoming an absolute threat in the secondary and has earned the nickname “Ballhawk” for his continued ability to get a turnover week after week. This attribute can be traced back to his days at Texas Lutheran where he originally gained that reputation making plays like this one.
