Texas Tech Recruiting Roundup: The Dead Period is Over

The dead period for this recruiting cycle ended at midnight last night. So now, it’s off to the races before signing day as coaches can once again visit face-to-face with recruits and their parents.

Either via telephone or written letter, Texas Tech became the first Division-I team to offer Rowdy Warner from Jones, Oklahoma. Warner is listed at 6’4” and 205 pounds, and plays primarily wide receiver and outside linebacker. Largely due to playing in a small town, he hasn’t received much interest from big schools. He certainly has the size and skills to compete at the next level, but might take some time to be polished first.

The last time Tech took a chance on a small school receiver from Oklahoma with little college interest, it worked out pretty well for the Red Raiders in the form of Wes Welker.

Texas Tech probably has room for a few more guys in its 2017 class. Its currently light on defensive linemen, running back, and wide receiver/tight end, so hopefully the Red Raiders can fill out the class by landing a few prospects at those positions.
