It is easy to shelf basketball until football season is over, but there has been a lot going on this month with new head coach Chris Beard's basketball program. The Red Raiders hit the hardwood for their first exhibition game on Friday, November 4th, but that is not all Beard has been focused on. He has has been hard at work on the recruiting trail and there is a new addition at the United Supermarkets Arena. Coach Beard's 2017 roster gained three players this month!
This week Coach Beard landed a huge 3 star recruit, Jarret Culver, from Lubbock Coronado High School. Culver was being recruited heavily by Texas, Notre Dame, UConn, as well as several Big 12 schools. As it stands now he will play both 1 and 2 guard and will join the team for the 2017 season.
Check out this video of Culver making his announcement, it is pretty funny.

Here is a great radio interview with Culver. One of most interesting parts is when he discussed Coach Beard calling him the day he was hired at Tech and making a home visit his second day on the job. I guess that paid off for Beard!

Tech also received a commitment from Jordan Brangers, a 6'2 190 pound shooting guard from South Plains College.

Junior college all american point guard Hyron Edwards also committed last week. Edwards was being pursued by Baylor, Missouri, and UTEP among others so he is a great get for Beard.
