Texas Tech Adds A Running Back for 2017

New, 2 comments

The Red Raiders now have a running back commit, and he brings in a new skill set.

Texas Tech landed its 13th commit for the 2017 class last night. The class was at 13 a few weeks ago, but once OL Jared Hocker decommitted it bumped the class down to 12. Tyree Range out of Riverside C.C. in California is the newest Red Raider.

Range has had to go the unconventional route to get to the FBS level. In 2014, his senior season of high school, he tore his ACL, MCL and meniscus during a game. At the time, Range was starting to really gain interest from schools like Colorado State, Arizona, UCLA and Oregon State. His injury caused him to go the JUCO route, but he's made quite the comeback.

Standing at 6'1" 230 pounds, Range is a big power back. Texas Tech usually has smaller quick running backs but Range is an exception. He uses his frame to his advantage though. He creates a low center of gravity and keeps chugging away. Range is constantly trying to move forward and isn't afraid to gain the dirty yards. This guy has a great motor and will bring a different skill set to the Red Raiders backfield.
