BOX SCORE
SCORE: Texas Tech 12, Fairfield 1
HITS: Texas Tech 16, Fairfield 6
ERRORS: Texas Tech 1, Fairfield 0
RED RAIDER OF THE GAME
Tyler Neslony "The Pony" had a great day at the plate with 3 RBIs before the 6th inning was over. Honorable Mention: Stephen Smith, who was 3 for 3 from the plate by the sixth. Texas Tech did most of their meaningful damage in the early innings, and Neslony gets Red Raider of the Game for leading that offensive.
PLAY OF THE GAME
Michael Davis's solo shot in the bottom of the 2nd solidified the Red Raider momentum, and created a lead that Fairfield couldn't catch. The Stags never really found their groove after being down 3-0 early, and Texas Tech cruised to a win after the Davis homer.
STAT OF THE GAME
4/5
The fifth batter was at the plate 5 times for Texas Tech, and drove in a run 4/5 times. Texas Tech was incredibly efficient today, and this stat shows how well the offense ran. 3 of the 4 times this happened, it was Nelsony.
(FORGOTTEN) PLAY OF THE GAME
Hopefully the error that brought a Fairfield run home in the 3rd inning can be forgotten. Tyler Floyd fired a laser off to 3rd and Hunter Hargrove, who was slightly out of position, couldn't catch it. The ball sailed into left field, bringing home a run that gave the Fairfield baseball club a little momentum. Texas Tech quickly squashed that momentum with a big 4th inning.
BIG REASON WHY TEXAS TECH WON
Davis Martin and solid infield work in the early innings (minus a very bad error) gave Texas Tech a consistent early lead. Fairfield had 5 hits and only one run, which is a testament to Texas Tech's defense.
