Many of our current student athletes are representing the Texas Tech Red Raiders around the world.
The former number one women’s collegiate golfer in the country and reigning Big 12 Women’s Golfer of the Year, Gabby Barker, participated in the 16th World University Championships in Brive, France, this past weekend. Barker was one of three collegiate female golfers representing the United States, along with Michigan State’s Sarah Burnham and Northwestern’s Stephanie Lau. Barker finished 17th with a final score of +25 over the four-day tournament.

Two Chinese female golfers finished in the last two spots with scores of +92 and +125. There is a zero percent chance I wouldn’t have finished ahead of them. Tiamyu Li didn’t break 100 in any of the four rounds. Is she really one of the three best collegiate female golfers in that country?
Track & Field
In other news, three current Red Raider track and field athletes qualified to represent the USA Junior National Team in the world championships. Kaylee Hinton (heptathlon), Vincent Crisp (800-meter run) and Charles Brown (triple jump) will travel to Bydgoszcz, Poland, for the IAAF World U20 Championships held July 19-24.
Before Poland, several current and former Texas Tech standouts will be vying for an opportunity to represent Team USA at the Olympics, as they compete at the U.S. Trials July 1-10 in Eugene, Ore.
