Texas Tech Recruiting Roundup, 6/1

The Red Raiders are starting to hand out offers and the 2016 class gets a late addition.

Texas Tech kicks off its camps this week and now the summer recruiting cycle is officially under way. As I mentioned last week, the coaching staff will be very busy over the next few months. Expect a lot more offers to go out and some summertime commitments trickle Texas Tech's way. The offers have already started going out over the past few weeks and today I'll check out a DFW area linebacker and two recently offered cornerbacks.

Dimitri Moore | 6'3", 195 lbs | Linebacker

Cedar Hill High School (Cedar Hill, TX)

24/7  | Rivals | Scout

The Red Raiders offered Moore on May 18th and he currently holds 19 offers. Some schools that have offered him so far are Arizona St, Arkansas, Colorado, Illinois, Kansas St, Missouri and Utah. Moore doesn't have the ideal size to play linebacker in college but that doesn't mean he won't, he could put on some weight once he's in school. In his film you can see that Moore plays off the edge and has the speed to run down ball carriers and cover receivers. It'll be interesting to see where he lines up at the next level. I could see him playing a similar role like Pete Robertson did for Texas Tech.

Josh Thompson | 6'0", 180 lbs | Cornerback

Nacogdoches High School (Nacogdoches, TX)

24/7  | Rivals | Scout

Josh Thompson has had a busy week. Since May 23rd he has received 7 offers, one of those being from Texas Tech. The East Texas cornerback holds 23 offers with 14 of those coming in the month of May. Last season Thompson had 36 tackles and 9 pass breakups for the Dragons. Something I like to see in his film is that he's usually lined up within 5 yards of the receiver at the line of scrimmage. Thompson plays a physical style of football and isn't afraid to jam a receiver at the line. Texas Tech is in need of corners and Thompson would make a great addition.

Noah Daniels | 6'0", 180 lbs | Cornerback

Clear Creek High School (League City TX)

24/7  | Rivals NR | Scout NR

Texas Tech offered Daniels on May 26th and it looks like his last 4 offers are pretty high on his list. The Red Raiders are going against Utah, Arkansas, and Houston to earn his services. Like Thompson, you can see Daniels playing up on the line in his film. Him and Thompson play pretty similarly. Daniels isn't afraid to tackle, that's for sure. Most of the time corners get a bad wrap about wanting to tackle but as you can see from his Hudl, Daniels will lay his shoulder into the ball carrier. As I mentioned above, Texas Tech needs corners and Daniels would be a great addition.

On Friday you may have saw that Texas Tech got a commitment from American River College OL Jake Reichel. Reichel is actually a part of the 2016 class. You see this sometimes with JUCO commitments happening at the end of the school year. I believe it probably has to do with grades. Reichel provides much needed depth at offensive line and has played both guard and tackle. He'll have 3 years of eligibility left and still has a redshirt year if the coaching staff wants to use it. Either way, welcome to the family Jake Reichel!
