This is literally a bit of yesterday's news, as the expansion talk seems to be dominating Big 12 related discussion since the draft wrapped, but I would have been remiss not to at least raise the question of Jared Goff, the Cal QB who went first, and who -- ahem -- ran Sonny Dykes' "Bear Raid," which I'm fairly certain isn't dominated by pro-set formations.
I guess one could infer that, by their very geography, all Cal offenses are "West Coast" offenses, so perhaps that's where the pros figured scheme questions didn't matter. Or maybe they're simply assuming that because Aaron Rodgers has been phenomenally successful as a pro, all future Cal QBs will be too.
I won't spend time discussing that time an Aaron Rodgers led Cal team faced Texas Tech, either. But suffice it to say that it's curious how one school running the exact same offense that another school's draftees are pilloried over, appears to skate by comparison. Food for thought -
