The Big XII announced it's Academic All-Big XII awards today, and eleven Red Raiders found themselves on a very prestigious list.
Tyler Floyd, Zach Davis, Orlando Garcia, Eric Gutierrez, Ryan Long, Ryan Moseley, Jacob Patterson, and Corey Raley were all selected to the first team. That's eight 1st team Academic All-Big XII selections for Texas Tech, good for a school record.
Ty Damron, Michael Davis and Hunter Hargrove also earned 2nd team Academic All-Big XII honors. The eleven total players selected ties the school record for total selections.
1st team members must have a 3.20 GPA or higher. Tyler Floyd held a perfect 4.0 for the second year in a row. He was the only player in the conference with a perfect GPA. 2nd team members are anywhere from 3.0-3.19.
In order to qualify, you must have held a 3.0 in the previous two semesters and have participated in 60 percent of games in the season.
This is a solid amount of players, especially on the first team. It's been a great season so far for the Texas Tech baseball team, and these honors stand as a testament to their work ethic outside the diamond.
