I absolutely love when Texas Tech wins. Fortunately for me and the rest of you Red Raiders, winning is all we have seen the last five games. I hope you are enjoying this as much as I am! What is the ceiling for this team? 4th place in the conference? Make it to the sweet sixteen? It is ok to dream a little bit about what this team might do. Haven't you ever bought a lottery ticket? Maybe the odds were not in your favor, but you dreamed about what could be.

This game really was a tale of two halves. In the first half TCU was on fire from the three point line and Tech was settling for mid range jump shots that they were not making. At half time Tech was down 12 and it felt like it might not be their night. But the second half was a totally different story. The Red Raiders came out with energy and intensity that TCU could not match. Tech played much better on both sides of the ball and won a close game. Good teams are supposed to win these types of games and it is safe to say Tech is a good team.

Game Notes

  • Ross was the leading scorer tonight with 25 points. This was a career high for him and he has been our most consistent player during the 5 game winning streak.
  • Free throws were solid tonight. 26-33 (79%). Tech was in the bonus with 10 minutes left in the game. If they don't make the throws then the outcome would have been different.
  • Please go watch the highlights from this game. Smith was flying all over the court. Off the top of my head I remember three alley-oop dunks he made and one on them was a reverse. Absolutely fantastic! He also scored a career high 23 points along with 3 blocks and 8 rebounds.
  • Texas Tech made history tonight by winning 5 in a row in Big 12 play for the first time. Congratulations to Coach Smith and his team.

Next up Tech heads out on the road to play the Kansas Jayhawks on Saturday at 11 am.
