Red Raiders Stumble in Game 2, Lose 10-3

1. Red Raider of the Game

Freshman pitcher Ty Harpenau had a fantastic game, lasting 5 innings giving up 3 hits and 1 run. His 7 strikeouts were the most by a freshman since Moseley had 7 against Kansas.

2. Play that Impacted the Game

After the Panthers put 2 on, and with 2 outs, Steven Gingery was pulled in favor of Garrett Bruce to face Daulton Varsho who promptly hit a bullet out of the park. The score changed from 3-2 Tech to 5-3 Milwaukee

3. Stat of the Game

Extra base hits. Milwaukee 4, Tech 0

4. Forgotten Play of the Game

In the 1st inning after Luke Meeteer singled, Eric Solberg hit a line drive straight to Tyler Neslony in right field. Meeter had started to run, and Tyler one-hopped a throw right to Gute on 1st base. It was a great double play, albeit a strange combination.

5. Big Reason Tech Lost the Game

With a young pitching staff and an experienced lineup, this year's team will need to outscore any pitching mistakes. In the bottom of the 7th, after Milwaukee had gone up by 2, Tech had runners on the corners and Gute had a 3-0 count. He swung aggressively and popped out, followed by a Neslony ground out. It was the best chance the team had to get some runs across the plate, and they weren't able to do so.

The second game of the doubleheader will start at 4:05pm
