Jakeem Grant Got Snubbed From The NFL Combine

3 Red Raiders made it to the combine, but unfortunately Jakeem Grant was not one of them.

Michael C. Johnson-USA TODAY Sports

3 Red Raiders were invited to the NFL combine. LeRaven Clark, DeAndre Washington, and Branden Jackson are the three that will represent the Red Raiders in the NFL's annual cattle show combine. Clark is the only Red Raider with a current analysis on NFL.com.

While I'm extremely happy for our three seniors who did get invited to the draft, it's hard to not be hacked off at the fact that Jakeem Grant isn't there simply because he's short. That isn't the official reason he's not at the combine, as no one's going to come out and say that, but it's the only reason I can think of.

Seriously, NFL, Jakeem Grant is good. We're talking about a guy who could break your 40 Yard Dash record if allowed to compete. A kid who box jumped 6'1 despite being only 5'7. The man can literally jump over himself. Some team is going to take a chance on him in free agency.

I get the whole thing about the height being scary, and size mattering in the pros, but seriously, watch this guy's highlight tape. If anything, his stature works to his advantage because he's able to bob and weave in and out of defender's tackles. When you watching him play the term "lightning in a bottle" comes to mind. Let's get this straight: there will be a team that takes a chance on him. Maybe it's Chip Kelly with the 49ers. Maybe it's Oakland with their love of speed. Not being at the combine shouldn't hurt Jakeem that much. However, it still sucks that he didn't get an invite because of something so petty as size.
