Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson Tried To Remove Texas Tech DL Coach’s Tongue

Texas Tech defensive line coach Kevin Patrick played for the University of Miami, a starter on the 1991 Hurricanes team that was named co-national champions. He was teammates with Dwayne Johnson, also known as “The Rock”, who became a wrestler turned actor after his football playing days.

Anyway, in a Sports Illustrated article published yesterday, The Rock tells a story about how he and Kevin Patrick got into a fight one day. Here it is:

Me and Kevin were in a coach's office, and he was talking s---, as always, but this time I just lost it. It was like a movie fight—the desk got turned over, stuff was flying all over the place. We spilled out onto the weight room floor, still going at it. He wouldn't stop talking, so I decided to pull his tongue out. I stuffed my big ol' hand into his mouth, and I had a couple of fingers around his tongue, but it was so damn slippery! I was quite serious about pulling it out, but I couldn't quite get a hold of it. Eventually I gave up, the fight ended, and two minutes later we were hugging each other. It was so dumb."

Maybe The Rock wanted Patrick’s tongue so he could make him taste what The Rock was cooking.

Johnson and Patrick remain good friends today, showcased by The Rock’s NSFW love for the Texas Tech coach on Twitter.

I find this pretty funny, and it just adds to the list of celebrities with odd connections to Texas Tech.
