VTM Staff Predictions: Texas Tech at Oklahoma State

The Red Raiders are in a tight spot, can they win in Stillwater?

Michael C. Johnson-USA TODAY Sports

Texas Tech finds itself in basically a must-win situation. After losing to Texas last week, the Red Raiders now sit at 4-5. Two more wins are needed to make a bowl and only three games are left on the schedule. Can Texas Tech go in to Stillwater and win, or will the Cowboys handle the Red Raiders at home?

Drew Parker

Oklahoma State in Stillwater. If there is any let down game this year, this is it. We are coming off of an emotional loss to Texas where we fought to the bitter end, and I think OSU may catch us. It is always hard to play in Stillwater, that crowd is loud and right on top of you, and Oklahoma State like Kansas State is a very sneaky team. I think we will have too many unforced errors and turnovers, and we will do too little too late to try and comeback, 38-35 OSU.

If Texas Tech wants to go bowling, they have to find a way to steal this one. The Cowboys have been a roll since the crazy ending to the Central Michigan game. Ranked #13 in the country and with a 7-2 record, this is definitely a challenge for a Tech team coming off of a loss against Texas that they let slip away. Oklahoma State has owned Tech for years and Gundy always seems to have answers for whatever Tech tries to throw at them. I said at the beginning of this season this one would be a loss and I'm sadly sticking to that. The Red Raiders will fall to 4-6 and that will really put their backs against the wall if they want to play beyond November 25th.

OSU is a really good team so this will be the Red Raiders toughest road game of the season. Maybe Texas Tech will have enough offense to keep the game close, but I will not hold my breath. I think the Cowboys defense mixed with home field advantage proves to be too much for Kingsbury and company.

We're gonna lose and it probably won't be pretty. Same song, different verse; promise on offense, a lackluster defense, missed opportunities, etc.

After a winnable game slipped through their hands, I'm worried the Red Raiders could come out flat against OSU. Tech needs to win two of their last three games to be bowl-eligible, but this will arguably be the toughest. Oklahoma State can run the ball, and should they get out to an early lead, I'm not positive Tech can slow them down.

Where has the offense gone? This team doesn't look like a Texas Tech team at the moment. The wheels have fallen off of the offense while the defense has made some key stops late in the game. Oklahoma State is a good football team and Stillwater is a tough place to play. I expect this game to be fairly close until late in the game, but the Cowboys eventually pull away.

Average Final Score: Texas Tech 35, Oklahoma State 48

Well, we're calling for a double-digit loss. To be fair, the line is Oklahoma State -12.5 so our predictions are right in line. What do you think VTM readers? Are we being too tough on our team or will the Cowboys win handily?
