Kerry Hyder - DE (Detroit Lions)
Another game, another sack for Kerry, which is becoming the norm. He now has 5 sacks in 4 games, and is just a half sack behind Von Miller for the league lead. Kerry has a unique and delicious tradition since making the team, as revealed in an ESPN interview. He and his wife eat at Outback Steakhouse every Friday night before game day, and he believes the power of Outback has helped him along. His current wife took him to an Outback in Lubbock while they were dating and he was playing at Tech. That next game was against OSU, in which he had a good game. Kerry has embraced his starting role and continues to be a bright spot for the Lions.
Michael Crabtree - WR (Oakland Raiders)
Michael “Mr Clutch” Crabtree, what a game. If it hadn’t been for Matt Ryan and Julio Jones shredding the Panthers defense, Crab probably would have been the highlighted receiver of the week. He was targeted by Derek Carr twice as many times as the next highest receiver, and led the team in receptions, yards, and touchdowns. 3 scores is the most Mike has had in his career as he and Carr are starting to develop something special in the bay area. Coach Jack del Rio said Crab is a leader for their team, and all of the negative comments coming out of San Francisco have not been seen in Oakland. Carr said he’s been a fan of Crabtree since his Texas Tech days and for a time really wanted to come to Tech solely because of him.
Other Red Raiders in Action
- RB DeAndre Washington led the Raiders in rushing again this week, with 5 carries for 30 yards, most of which came on a 28 yard rush. However he did fumble in the 4th quarter which led to a Ravens TD that put them ahead by 6. He also had 3 receptions for 16 yards
- Jakeem Grant continues to be used as a returner only for the Dolphins with an 18-yard kick return and 3 punt returns for a combined 13 yards
- After Jace Amaro led the Titans in receiving last week, he did not factor in this weeks game against the Texans as Delanie Walker was back for Tennessee
- WR Danny Amendola had zero receptions on a couple targets in the Patriots shutout loss at home against the Bills. With Brady returning, we shall see if he plays a bigger role in the Pats offense
