Texas Tech Hockey Update

We take a look at how the hockey team is doing

Over the summer, it was announced that Tech would be taking part in a new collegiate hockey conference with other teams around the state. Unfortunately, Lubbock has no ice rink so the team would practice and play their home games at the Music City Mall in Odessa. Now that the season is a few weeks old, we’ll check in and see how the team has been doing.

Results So Far

Tech started the season off with a trip to Austin to face the Horns in a 2-game weekend series. The Red Raiders started the season off in the right way with a 3-2 win, followed by a tough 6-2 loss in which the young goaltender from UT played a fantastic game, with Tech outshooting UT 43-28. After the UT series, Tech welcomed “home” the DBU squad for a 2 game series. DBU has a very strong team, and the Patriots took both games, 8-1 and 5-2. Looking to improve on their record Tech played this weekend in Farmers Branch against a winless UNT squad. 2 games later, they’re still winless with Tech winning 10-6 on Friday and 6-2 on Saturday. Tech faced SMU this afternoon in Richardson and as of this writing are up 3-1 after the 2nd.

Upcoming games

Tech plays in Odessa the next 2 weekends with series against Texas State and Texas A&M. The next scheduled set of games in the DFW area will be halloween weekend against TCU. These games will take place at the NYTEX complex in North Richland Hills. Tech will also play in DFW January 27-29th against DBU and SMU.
