Ondre Pipkins, a former high school 5* recruit, will transfer to Tech this fall per Joe Schad.
Former Michigan DL Ondre Pipkins said he’ll transfer to Texas Tech, sit out this season and play in 2016.

After sitting out next season, Pipkins will have one season to play at Tech. He has a history of injury issues with two concussions and a torn ACL but this is a no-brainer. Currently, Tech looks extremely thin at the defensive line in 2016 and the Red Raiders have a few unused 2015 scholarships available to use. He is a big body (6'3, 315 pounds) who can eat up space. Tech gets the scholarship back at the end of the 2016 season so this isn't a term commitment. Kingsbury is basically gambling on a former 5* recruit for one year in a position of need. Again, I think it is a no-brainer.
Having said that I wouldn't expect too much out of him. With the injury concerns and lack of production at Michigan, I would be pleasantly surprised if he produced much. According to Pipkins, he wanted out of Michigan after Harbaugh and his coaching staff repeated asked him to retire from football due to the injuries.
Welcome Ondre and Wreck 'Em!
