Texas Tech Sports Links 5/25-6/1

Lots of stuff to read!

Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

Plenty of links to peruse on your Tuesday morning. Enjoy!

The Big 12 announced TV coverage for Tech's games versus Sam Houston State and UTEP. Game times are still TBD but we now know they will air on Fox Sports Net. They also announced Fox Sports 1 will air the Tech versus UT Thanksgiving Day game which will take place at 6:30pm.

Brandon Chatmon of ESPN previews Tech's strongest and weakest positions. I think the OL might have something to say about being the strongest position group, but between RB and OL we are splitting hairs because both groups are strong. He lists DT as the weakest position. I can't argue with that, but just due to lack of experience LB may be the weakest at this point.

Phil Steele released his All-Conference and All-American teams. Nice to see plenty of Red Raiders on the All Big-12 team and Le'Raven Clark on the All-American team. Tech actually ranked 4th in the Big 12 in total number of selections. I was pleasantly surprised.

Athlon Sports ranks Tech #48 in the nation and #8 in the Big 12. They also preview the 2015 Tech team. They also rank Mahomes, Grant and Washington as the #22 offensive triplets in the nation.

Dane Brugler of and previewed the Red Raider 2016 Draft Class.

Big 12:

The Big 12 announced some rule changes including storming the field/court and showing controversial replays. Nicholas Talbot of the Lubbock AJ discusses a few of them. I am not sure I agree with the execution of some of them, but I do agree with the sentiment of at least one of them. Visiting players and coaches should not feel unsafe when leaving the field/court. The fines for showing controversial replays too many times is ridiculous.

The Lubbock AJ staff ranks the Big 12 cities.

Athlon Sports ranks the Big 12's toughest 2015 schedules. I might argue that Tech should be ranked higher based on going on the road to play Arkansas in non-conference.

The Dallas Morning News staff breaks down the Week 1 match ups across the state. I have said it before, but that Texas vs Notre Dame game is juicy based on the names alone. I know I will be tuned in.

The men's golf team put an awesome round of 6-under together on Sunday, but it was too little, too late. They finished 17th at the NCAA finals which wasn't enough to move on to the next round. They missed the cut by 1 stroke.
