Tech picked up another defensive commit. Demarcus Fields a CB from Taylor High School in Taylor, TX. He has nice size at 6'1, 180 pounds. He is unrated according to the four major recruiting services, Rivals, 247, Scout and ESPN. 247 shows Texas State as his only other offer.
His junior highlights are below. The first thing that jumps out to me is his physicality. He is not the fastest CB, but trades some speed for height. He has good hips allowing him to adjust to routes quickly. He sheds blockers and sifts through picks by receivers very well. He will make a good man-to-man coverage cornerback. I think he will fit into exactly what Gibbs wants to do.
He makes the fifth defensive commit and fifteenth overall. He is also the second DB commit.
